April Summary and Summer Date Changes

SUMMER MEETING DATE CHANGES

Hey Girls. I just checked the church calendar and we have some conflicts with the dates I picked for summer so…

Our June Meeting will NOT be June 16 but it WILL BE June 23 – Mary and Angi are set to make dinner.
Our July Meeting will NOT be July 14 but WILL BE July 21 – we need volunteers for dinner!

Please check the 2014 Page for our latest schedule updates (don’t check old posts!).

Congratulations to April winners!

At our last meeting Pogie won the Cowboy Boot blocks. In an historic moment, our newest member, Lisa Roskam, drew Angi Wiggins name out of the hat which allowed her to actually win our monthly gift certificate for showing a finished UFO quilt for the first time! Thanks to Ginny Brooks and Joan Pogon-Cord we had a delicious dinner of pizza and salad.

Next meeting in May

Our next meeting is Monday, May 19, 2014 at 4pm at COBC. Sherrie Perez and Robyn Thompson are slated to bring dinner. Bring your finished UFO’s to share and something to work on at the meeting.

BOM – If you are in the Block of the Month group, please get your finished blocks to the winners ASAP. Those who haven’t won blocks yet are : Kim White, Teri K, Mary and Angi. Spools block is next for May’s meeting.

PLEASE Note: Please be sure to have your upper left spool in the UPRIGHT position (not lying on its side) so that the winner’s quilt will go together correctly.

We want to do July’s Evening Star block in brights so to help out with that we’ll have a bright fabric swap in May and June so that everyone can get the colors they need to complete the block shown. So bring any solid-ish brights you have to share.

Round Robin for late 2014

It was suggested we start another Round Robin in August when we finish the Block of the Month. We’ve decided to form 2 groups, one Slow Group that exchanges maybe twice before Christmas and one Fast group that exchanges every month. A Round Robin is a serious commitment so think twice about joining – the next person depends on you to finish your border on time so that the exchange can happen in a timely manner. You can’t fall behind on this one. We will explain the procedure in July. You need to provide a center block in a box if you want to join. Your block would be passed around with each lady adding on another border. You could let people add their own fabric or just have them use the fabric you include in your box.

We have decided to do Scrap Therapy in 2015 – Mary is suggesting 1/2 square triangles. Any more ideas?
