Hello Loose Threads – We’re meeting this Thursday, February 23, starting at 4pm. It’s a Sew Day, so bring those machines and let’s sew! As always, bring any quilts you want to share so we can “oooh’ and “aaah”. We are still taking signups for our 2012 UFO Challenge and won’t be showing our first finished UFO’s for the challenge until March.
Just a reminder on who’s bringing dinner: Theresa Morrow, Vicki Ruggles, and Kim Ross are signed up for February. Thank you to Mary Landon, Christina Salazar and Joanie Pogon Cord for our delicious dinner last month! It was much appreciated.
Last month we only had one quilt top done for the Strip Club Challenge so Cathy Criger won the Strawberry Patch gift card. There was one more gift certificate left from 5 Heart Quilts. We threw all the names of the Strip Club members who didn’t win a drawing into a hat and drew out our last winner for the Loose Threads Strip Club Challenge and that was: Teri Kanallakan. Congratulations.
A reminder from Diane Cole about this Thursday: I volunteered to give a class on different types of bindings. I took a great class at Road to California, and learned a neat way to do a continuous bias binding, prairie points, and a trick for making an easy ruffle. If you are interested – here is what you should bring to the next meeting:
- For the Bias binding you will need – 2 fat quarters , a ruler, and something to mark your fat quarter.
- For the prairie point project – bring 2 8” squares of fabric, 1 8” square of batting, and 12 – 4” squares of fabric (this will make a cute little potholder, in case you want to plan your fabrics accordingly)
- For the ruffle – bring 1 – 4” by 30” (can also be longer) strip of fabric – ironed wrong sides together -lengthwise
- You will also need your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies
